A brain aneurysm (AN-yoo-riz-um) is a bulge or swelling in a blood vessel in the brain. It often looks like a berry hanging from a pole. - A brain aneurysm can leak or rupture and cause bleeding in the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). Most commonly, a broken brain aneurysm occurs in the space between the brain and the thin tissue that covers the brain. This type of hemorrhagic stroke is known as subarachnoid hemorrhage.
- A ruptured aneurysm is quickly fatal and requires immediate medical attention.
- However, most brain aneurysms do not rupture, cause health problems, or cause symptoms. Such aneurysms are often discovered when testing for other conditions.

- Sudden and extremely severe headache
- Nausea and vomiting
- Torticollis
- Blurred or double vision
- Photosensitivity
- Epileptic crisis
- A droopy eyelid

The reasons
The causes of the brain aneurysm are unknown, but a number of factors can increase your risk.
