overview

Undefined Monoclonal Gammopathy (MGUS) is a condition in which an abnormal protein – known as monoclonal protein or M-protein – is found in your blood.

This abnormal protein is made in your bone marrow, the soft blood-producing tissue that fills the center of most of your bones. The disorder is most common in older men.

MGUS is generally not a problem. But more serious illnesses can sometimes occur, including some forms of blood cancers.

If you have large amounts of this protein in your blood it is important to get regular checkups so that if you get worse you can be treated sooner.
