Live updates on Sri Lanka economic crisis: Amid protests against the country's worst economic crisis in decades, the Sri Lankan government has imposed a curfew across the country from 6pm Saturday to 6am Monday, Reuters reported. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa also declared a nationwide public emergency late Friday. The president invoked strict laws that allowed the military to arrest suspects and hold them for extended periods without trial as demonstrations demanding his ouster spread across the South Asian nation.

Meanwhile, Lanka IOC, the Sri Lankan subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation, said on Friday it would supply 6,000 tons of fuel to help alleviate the electricity shortage. Indian traders said on Saturday they were about to ship 40,000 tons of rice to Sri Lanka, according to a report by Reuters.
