There are no signs or symptoms for the first three to six days after yellow fever develops – the incubation period. After that, the infection enters an acute phase and, in some cases, a toxic phase that can be life threatening.

Once the infection enters the acute stage, signs and symptoms may appear, including:

The reasons

Yellow fever is caused by a virus carried by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. These mosquitoes thrive in and around human homes, where they breed in even the cleanest water. Most cases of yellow fever occur in sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America.

People and monkeys are the most commonly infected with the yellow fever virus. Mosquitoes transmit the virus back and forth between monkeys, humans, or both.

When a mosquito bites a human or monkey infected with yellow fever, the virus enters the mosquito’s bloodstream and migrates before attaching to the salivary glands. When the infected mosquito bites another monkey or human, the virus enters the host’s bloodstream where it can cause disease. Yellow fever Treatment in Khammam

Risk factors

If you travel to an area where mosquitoes continue to transmit the yellow fever virus, you may be at risk of developing the disease. These areas include sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America.

While there are currently no reports of infected people in these areas, it does not mean you are safe. It is possible that local populations were vaccinated and protected from the disease, or that cases of yellow fever were simply not recognized and officially reported.

If you plan to travel to these areas, you can protect yourself by getting a yellow fever vaccination at least a few weeks before you travel.

Anyone can get yellow fever, but older people are at a higher risk of getting seriously ill.

prevention

vaccine
There is a very effective vaccine against yellow fever. Yellow fever is known in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of South America. If you live in any of these areas, ask your doctor if you need the yellow fever vaccine. If you plan to travel to these areas, speak to your doctor at least 10 days, but preferably three to four weeks, before you travel. In some countries, travelers are required to present a valid vaccination certificate upon entry.

A single dose of yellow fever vaccine provides protection for at least 10 years. The side effects are usually mild and last five to ten days. They may include a headache, mild fever, muscle pain, fatigue, and muscle stiffness at the injection site. Larger reactions – such as developing a syndrome similar to actual yellow fever, inflammation of the brain, or death – can occur, most commonly in infants and older adults. The vaccine is believed to be the safest for people aged 9 months to 60 years.Yellow fever Treatment in
