- Blepharitis (blef-uh-RYE-tis) is inflammation of the eyelids. Blepharitis usually affects both eyes along the edges of the eyelids.
Blepharitis usually occurs when tiny sebum glands near the base of the eyelashes become blocked, causing irritation and redness. Various diseases and conditions can cause blepharitis.

The signs and symptoms of blepharitis are usually worse in the morning. They include:

The reasons
The exact cause of blepharitis is unclear. In some cases, it can spread to another person. It can be associated with one or more of the following:

- Rosacea – a skin condition characterized by reddening of the face
