Different Home Remedies for Varicose Veins
A varicose vein is a condition in which the vein becomes swollen. The surface of the skin becomes purplish or bluish in color. This condition may cause pain and discomfort to the person. Varicose veins occur when the valve of the vein becomes ineffective. The valve of the vein that regulates the flow of the blood becomes ineffective.
There are several remedies available to prevent varicose veins. Natural treatments for this condition are very common and effective.
The following home remedies can be used for the treatment of this condition.
Avoid tight clothes:
Tight garments will keep the blood accumulated in your legs. Do not wear tight undergarments or clothes. Avoid wearing tight stockings as veins in the legs can be easily affected.
Avoid standing and sitting for a long period of time:
The main purpose of this is to keep the blood circulation normal. Even when you are in a laying position, keep a pillow under your legs, so that the blood drains to all body parts easily.
Exercise:
Do regular exercises, such as jogging, biking and walking to prevent varicose veins. This will also keep you healthy and fit.
Wear support hose:
This will help in reducing the pool of blood in small vessels present close to the skin. This will also help in draining the blood into the large veins from where it can go back to the heart.
Dietary changes:
Increasing the fiber intake may help in preventing varicose veins. Vitamin C and bioflavonoids should also be consumed daily in this condition, as they help to restore the blood flow and act as anti-inflammatory agent. You should consult your nutritionist for proper nutrition plans.
Zinc rich diets are also useful in promoting healthy veins. You can also use zinc supplements for this purpose
The combination supplements of gotu kola and ginkgo biloba are also helpful in reducing the formation of varicose vein.
Castor Oil:
It is a very popular Ayurveda medicine for the treatment of this condition. It is very easy to use. Take a piece of flannel cloth and soak it in castor oil. Now, place this soaked cloth on the affected area and let it remain there for about 20-30 minutes.

Varicose Veins – Why Do They Appear During Pregnancy?
You are more than happy that you will be a mom soon, but you are worried about the changes that will occur in your body. Varicose veins are among the most common and among the most annoying changes that women have to deal with. Find out more about their nature and their causes.
What Are Varicose Veins?
These are swollen veins that usually bulge right below the surface of the skin. They are typically blue and purple in color. They are fairly thin and appear like irregular lines on the skin. Sometimes, they can form entire webs. Sometimes, they will even be inflamed, itchy and painful.
During pregnancy, varicose veins will oftentimes appear on the legs and not only there. In fact, it is a common misconception that they appear solely on the legs. There are swollen veins on the vulva as well, even though they tend to be smaller and a lot less noticeable. Hemorrhoids are also swollen veins which appear on the internal lining of the colon and which are extremely common in pregnant women. In rare cases, the problematic areas include the tummy and the arms.
What Causes Them?
They are usually caused by the pressure on the inferior vena cava. This is the vein that leads to the feet and legs, and it can cause varicose veins and spider veins. Another reason that people may end up with varicose veins is because it is hereditary. If it runs in your family, chances are you may end up having them during pregnancy or later in life. Progesterone and pregnancy hormones can also cause the vein walls to weaken. This is another leading cause of the condition. It is especially common in multiple birth pregnancies.
Are They Serious?
No, varicose veins are not a serious medical condition. They may affect your appearance and cause some discomfort, but they will not affect your health and that of your baby in any way. The cases in which blood clots get formed in these veins are extremely rare. Generally, if you have any concerns on this matter, you should discuss them with your doctor just to be on the safe side.
